What a week!

After a week of a funeral, a juicing cleanse, Gabe's emergency trip to Dell Children's, Nana's stomach bug, Brinn's abscess on her bum, a sore throat, and an ice day, we have all managed to come out of last week safe and sound.   Did I mention the kids were only in school 3 days?  So this weekend we wanted to take it easy.  We spent Friday night at the Ylinens with the Dauterives where we ate amazing homemade veggie lasagna and cosmos. Saturday Addy had a birthday party and softball evaluations and we ended up at any restaurant we could find a seat in with the Dauterives.  Scott and Eddie are going to coach this season together and they get to be at all the evaluations to see what the talent looks like.  Today we have church and I have a listing appointment and a showing.  Then I am making a beef stew, getting in my pj's and watching the grammys.

San Antonio

This weekend Scotty and I had a great time on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.  We were there for a conference but definitely got some quality "us" time in as well.  It's so fun to stay on the Riverwalk so you can just walk everywhere.  We stayed at Mokara, which is a very nice hotel and spa.  On Saturday, we had lunch on the Riverwalk and after a margarita and enchilada, we headed to the spa for the whirlpool, sauna, steam and a couples massage.  It was awesome.

Then came Monday, and that was the worst day ever.  Drove to Houston and back, went to a funeral there, found out baby Gabe was in the hospital, and sat in traffic in Houston for way too long.

From happy to sad...

It's amazing what can happen in a week.  This week I have seen a friend have the best thing in the world happen to them, and seen another friend have the worse thing happen to them.  Birth and death, one brings such joy and the other such sorrow.

Laura had her baby this week, it was a boy.  His name is Max and he came about 10 days early.  He is so adorable.  He has Laura's big feet already.

Mandy, on the other hand, had a tough week.  On Tuesday her father was life flighted to the hospital after falling off a ladder.  He passed away and she has been in Houston with her mom and sister planning the funeral this week.  I feel her pain so much and I know its going to be a rough few months ahead for her and her mom.  The funeral is Monday so we will drive to Houston to be there for her and I organized my entire street to send her a really big bouquet of flowers, so hopefully it will bring her some happiness in this dark dark time.

Ali and I are going on a girls weekend trip to Traavasa spa in Austin to mark the anniversary of her mom passing a few years ago.  We are going to relax, go to the spa and just hang out.  Next year, seems like we will be inviting Mandy to join us as well.

Top 5 Reasons I am so proud of Addison

5.  Her handwriting has improved tremendously.

4.  She went out and sold all of her Girl Scout cookies on the first day!

3.  She got over it quickly when another little girl tried to put it in her face she was having a play date with another friend and Addy let it roll off her back.

2.  She has been so great with taking care of her little brother and the other littles on the street.

And #1.  Her entire rainbow loom case fell and all the rubber bands went all over the place and instead of getting mad or frustrated, she just said oh well and handled it beautifully. So so proud!!

Flowers!

My sweet hubby came home with flowers for me today as I won two awards at my sales meeting. #4 top producer last month and the Above and Beyond Award. :)

Laura's birthday celebration

We finally got to go out and celebrate Laura's birthday from the 27th. We had a great time! She's due Jan 21st so we referred to it as the last supper. We had dinner at Imperia on 4th St. and then to Speakeasy, which we haven't been to in over 12 years! A great band was playing and Laura of course knew the lead singer.  Can't wait to meet her little bambino soon!

So far Addy is still playing with her doll she got for Christmas. We were all quite surprised to hear she wanted a doll considering she isn't a doll kind of gal, but she's dressing her everyday, putting her pj's on her every night, and taking her places.

2013 Highlights

Jan.- Mommo and the cousins came to visit, it rained the whole time but we still had fun, Bubba started swimming lessons and potty training, Scott started to repaint our entire house, Brady started going to Mt. Olive

Feb-Addy and Daddy went to Daddy/Daughter dance, Addy and mommy went to see the Lion King, Tanya had her wig party, went to Frisco for a conference for Scotty on Valentine's day, found out on Valentine's Day that Scotty didn't have a major sickness, Scott painted Addy's pink room blue, Addy started horseback riding lessons

 

March-  Cousin Gabe was born!, the first annual Denim and Diamonds gala, Mommo's birthday,  kite festival, pool construction began, Daddy took the kids to Galveston over Spring Break, we went to the Austin rodeo, had fun hanging out with our neighbors, I started selling houses for the year, first Bob Schneider concert with neighbors of this year

April- our first annual Founders' day weekend/bbq cookout, Brady's firefighter birthday party and birthday brunch at Jack Allen's, celebrated Mandy's birthday, pool construction continued, Daddy/Daughter dance #2, had a girls happy hour here at the house

May- pool is complete!, wine tour through Dripping with the MIstrettas for my birthday, Nana and Poppy closed on their home, Slatons came to visit Memorial Day weekend and we went to wine festival/Trattoria Lisina

June- our 10 year anniversary trip to Mexico stayed at Casitas Royale, had lots of fun summer pool days, Mumford and Sons concert, Top Golf date for Anthony's birthday, Luling for Paw Paw's 90th birthday

July- Addy's awesome pool birthday party, July 4th at Greyrock CC and Bob concert at Nutty, Ali visited for Bob concert at Zilker, had some fun date nights with Scotty bear, got our new car

Aug- 3rd annual trip to Padre, started it at Schliterbaun, fun Lost Pines trip with cousins and Mommo/Poppo, Murphy over for sleepover for last summer bash

Sept- A and B started school, Brady started his new school finally at DSUMC, they both had great teachers, UT football season started so lots of football games, 4th Bob concert of the year, Brady started soccer and Addy started softball

Oct- TX/OU party at our house- we beat OU!, Laura's return to Austin, Addy went to overnight camp for 2 nights, trip to Toys R Us, family photos at Austin 360 bridge, Brady was a pirate and Addy a wicked kitty for Halloween

Nov- Ali and Sean's visit- looked at houses in San Marcos and a trip to a Wimberley winery, Laura's baby shower at Kara's house, Macklemore concert with Mandy and Anthony, PJ concert with Mont and Ben for Scotts birthday, Gigi and Ellen's visit and shopping spree to San Marcos, casino nights, Scotty turned 37-dinner at Uchiko, turkey day- ran a 5 miler, we ate at Nana's with Mommo and then the UT game
