Hangin' with Mommo

Well it was a nice, relaxed, no plans kind of weekend.  Mommo came and hung out with us and we enjoyed her company, of course.  On Friday, Scotty got to play golf.  Then we met Shelley for dinner that night, we had so much to catch up on that I didn't even get a picture.  Saturday morning we went to Brady's soccer game first (that was not fun) and then to Addy's softball game (that was fun).  After sports and a birthday party for Addy, we all got cozy in our pj's and cooked our favorite meal of chicken and rice and watched lots of football, while it rained outside.  The lighting and thunder were so bad last night that I seriously thought the house was going to get hit.  Our pool is now filled up to the brim!

This is one of two of the rainbows we saw on Friday!

Talking death with a 3 year old

Brady and I went and had dinner together at Nutty Brown. There's a picture of Elvis on the wall holding a guitar.

Brady: "Mommy, who is that?"
Mom: "that's Elvis Presley, he was a great musician."
Brady: "where is he?"
Mom: "Well he isn't alive anymore." (Why did I say this?!).
Brady: "Why? What happened? Did he get killed with a boom boom?"
Mom: "No. No. He just isn't with us anymore."
Brady: "Why???? Why did he die? How do you die, Mommy?"

I will take note to never try to talk death with a 3 year old again.

Our little studious girl

Working on her Math Stars and reading BEFORE school!  This is a first. :)

Landscaping

We have no idea if any of our plants will come back next spring or not, so we are taking pictures to remember what it looks like cause this is our first success at having a green thumb.

Crappy day

Ugh, it's been a long hard day.  I was in my car for way too long, I was overbooked, it started out with an email from a friend going through an even rougher time than me, another friend hurting over her mom's passing, I was hungry, tired, thirsty, had to pee, you name it.  I missed a meeting because I was so late from driving all over Austin in a day and then overwhelmed with getting caught up on what I had missed throughout the day.  But then I got to see my daughter play softball for the first time tonight and it totally made the crappy day a great happy day.  She loved it!  She was so darn nervous all day, stomach in knots nervous and she powered through it and did a great job.  She loved being catcher the most.  She went to bed saying she couldn't wait until the next time she was able to play again.

When we went to get yogurt after the game, Scott realized he didn't have his wallet.  So we came home and he then went back to the fields, in freaking Manchaca, in the dark with a flashlight looking for his wallet.  He's one lucky man as he found it right in the middle of the field where he was practicing with the girls.  Thank God!!  So we can finally sleep, and sleep well, as a crappy day turned good is one I will take.  I am still hungry and have a headache but oh well, I am sure I will make the meal up somehow someway.

You're the best mama...

I love it so much when my son tells me this.  I get hugs, and kisses all day long and my all time favorite, "Your my best friend."  Why can't he stay 3 forever????  And how much longer do you think this will last?

Oh how I've missed my Garmin!

I love this thing and I've been without it for over a month now (apparently when you sweat a lot it makes it stop working!).  Great workout today with my hubs.  And then we had lunch with Addy.  :) And after school a little fashion show.

And then a little swimming in September...it was cold!

And some acorn art

Bubba's 1st UT game!

He had so much fun!!

While the boys were doing football, the girls were getting their toes done and I took Addy to Luby's cafeteria (to relive my childhood) and then some shopping and frozen yogurt.

It's raining!!

Poor baby girl

Addy Bear woke up last night and got sick all over her bed, the carpet, bathroom, everywhere. So she and I slept in the guest room and Scott cleaned it all up (thank God for that, and he's a way better cleaner than me anyways).  She stayed home from school today and did a whole bunch of nothing.

Thank goodness for chocolate chip cookies, as they make everything better...

And for brothers that dress up like a pirate on talk like a pirate day, aargh!

Beautiful girl

Yes, I know, I already posted this one on Facebook, but I just love my little grown up girl here!  She picked her outfit out 3 days ago.  And that made for one easy, breezy morning which makes us all happy around here.  :)

Wine, football and friends

Friday night we had Smith family night at home, full of pizza, swimming and a movie. Kids were so tired after a long week of practices.

I know, the life of a 3 year old...

After a breakfast taco and doughnut run, it was off to play our 2nd soccer game!

What can I say, it was better than last time as he (and half of the team) didn't spend the entire game crying, but he did not participate while out on the field either.  Oh well, at least it was an improvement from last week!

Saturday afternoon we got to go to the Dripping Springs wine and food festival and it was SO fun that I forgot to take a picture. We went with Eddie and Lexie and ran into the principal of Rooster and had a great time chatting with her.

Three outfit changes later, we walked a long way to April's tailgate at the LBJ museum!  Again, had too much fun (and a couple orange Jell-O shots) that I forgot to take a pic. We then met up with the fam for the game.

We left at halftime because we had visitors at our door! Erin and Marcey and their two littles stayed with us Saturday and Sunday night.  Good times!

Proud proud mama

The Smiths haven't had a week with this much action since...I guess when we brought a baby home!  I am so proud of my kids for putting themselves in uncomfortable situations this week and trying hard with their new soccer and softball teams. The two days a week practice, this all being so new to them and they are doing their best. And they are having fun, too!
