Last weekend of September

What a great and busy weekend! Friday was fun, we had a bunch of kids playing in our yard and then we met the Becks at Waterloo at the Galleria for dinner. It was their 11th wedding anniversary and Jen was running in a race the next day so I ate as if I was running in a race the next day also. Even though I wasn't. The kids got to play outside even with the rain on the way and there was an awesome ballon maker that came to our table. Mike paid Ally and Peyton both $3 to watch Brady for us so we could enjoy ourselves, are they just amazing or what?!

Saturday morning was awesome. It was dark and rainy so we slept in and made blueberry muffins for breakfast. Then we cleaned out the playroom and got the house ready for our big party that night. I then got to go to a five hour photography class that was so incredibly awesome and learned finally how to use the manual settings on our camera. Now I just need to practice what I learned! I left early to beat the rain home and that night we had Nana, Poppy, Kevin, Adri, Chris, Jamie, Jade, Adam and his son Anderson over for the game. We ate BBQ and stayed up late cheering on the horns. Adri and Kevin were cracking us up telling us stories about their cruise.  She really could be a stand up comedian for real.  And what a game, it came down to the last minute!! We looked good but have a tough one on the way. West Virginia at home.  Next weekend will be fun too cause Mommo is coming to town!!

S day

Everyday Addy has to bring something to school that starts with a certain letter.  Today was S so she asked for her hair to be in a Side ponytail. Pretty creative for a 6 year old.  She had inspiration though...

This was Brynne's hair yesterday.  Can you guess what letter it was??

Playdates

Today was the first day ever that BOTH Addy and Brady got to have a playdate.  Wyatt lives two doors down and will hopefully be one of Brady's buddies for good.  Brady was so excited to have his FIRST playdate.

Addy on the other hand, has had many.  This one was special though cause she had a hard day (she felt left out) and her great friend Brynne sent her a video asking her to come over.  She got to have chicken nuggets with ketchup in a smiley face AND cookies AND brownies.  She wishes she could live there, and I don't blame her!  She went to bed with a tummy ache but one that was well worth it.

This business of real estate

Ugh, I have to vent.  I just spent the last two hours on the phone trying to keep a deal alive for my seller.  The seller has given and given on the price and the buyers want more money for repairs and sellers just won't do it.  This deal has been tough from the get go, and my seller isn't going to budge and neither is the buyer so we are back to square one and getting the home back on the market.  That is what is so tough in this job,  you do all this work and it can be for nothing!  That is just part of it.  Some deals are super easy and make up for these that can be tough.  I guess since this is my only client right now that I should want them to stick around longer anyways.

This morning I spent an hour with the principal and other parents at a talk time where we got to ask the principal any questions we wanted.  This new city/district/neighborhood is all still so new to us, so anything I could learn was beneficial.  I learned about bloom's taxonomy (hadn't heard about this since college), the ACE program, instructional facilitators, the Dripping Springs Education Foundation, Robinhood (I didn't know this was even still around) and what is important to this school district to fund and not fund.  They compared themselves to Eanes quite a bit and the counselor said her son that just started at Texas State was very prepared to start college and that made me feel great, since I felt the complete opposite when I went to school.  This is a great school district and it was good to learn new things about it.

Now on to finances, wish me luck there!

Weekend fun Sept 22

Bring on the fall weather!  Saturday morning we started our day at a birthday party at Buckaroo Ranch where Addy got to ride a pony, play games and eat cake.
Saturday afternoon we went by Fowler Fest at Nutty Brown to say hi to Casey.  That sure was a production!  Apparently the new thing is to wear short shorts and cowboy boots.
Then we got to celebrate Jamie's 40th at their house.  Her talented friends made this cake and Chris roasted a pig all day long.  It was a lot of fun!
We spent a lot of time outside this weekend.  Saturday morning we ate Scotty's famous pancakes outside and Sunday the kids and Scott were measuring the yard to see if a playscape will fit.  Then we played soccer and jumped on the trampoline later on that day.  It feels good to get to play in our yard!
On Sunday we had three beautiful visitors.  Sam brought over her sweet twins that are 8 months old, Betsy and Connor.  It was so nice to have babies in the house again, although it made me realize how fast that time flies by with our own kids and how the loss of sleep in that time makes you forget all about when they were babies.  It was great to hang out with them on a Sunday afternoon and Sam even left here with some toys.  Addy got to play at Brynne's house all day and said she wasn't even scared of Bob (their dog) and didn't worry about where he was.  That is a huge improvement!  The day was finished with dinner from the Salt Lick and the Emmy's on TV.

The hippest scarecrow

Yep, this is what we do on a lazy Sunday. Addy wants to spend the whole day together!

A rainy Sunday morning

This was our inspiration to get up and go to church on a lazy rainy day...

Go Horns!

Last night we had an awesome steak dinner at our house with the Smiths. The kids were in a performing mode and making us laugh all night. We played secret spy agents in the backyard in the dark. We all watched UT spank Ole Miss in the media room and made fun of Poppy for looking like a mix between Chris Hershberger and Mack Brown. But of course we were just messing with him and honored him with some Poppy wine!

An oldie but goodie

Yesterday I got to see Shelley Cook for the first time since we've both moved back to Austin. It was super great to see her and talk about our new lives here. She is such an amazing woman and the same old Shelley since I've known since I was 3 years old.

I love this picture cause

1. Bradyn loves hanging with the girls (they don't let him do so much) and
2. Brynne wore this outfit to school because they were Addy's clothes!

Only in the country!

This is one of Scotty's favorite sayings of all time!

Horses...finally!

Today we went to the Healing Horse Ranch after school.  Addy finally got to get on a horse for the first time since we moved out here.  This is Jada.
Addy wasn't shy at all, she asked to get right on that horse without even thinking about it.
She's a natural!  And see how happy she is!
She even persisted that mom get on too and have a walk around.  Very relaxing!

Brady's 1st day of school

Brady had a GREAT first day back at school this week.  He didn't even cry.  He was awesome and the teacher called after the day was over and said he was SO sweet and so good and so smart.  She said he follows directions very well (must have been the wrong kid) and that she wishes all of the kids in the class were as good as him.  Made my day!!

Now if the rest of the week had gone this good...

Labor Day weekend

This Labor Day weekend was filled with fun!  Friday night we took the kids to Doc's Backyard with Chelsea and Jade.  We sat outside and the children could play and run around and we could sit and relax.  Brady waited an hour sitting and waiting for the band to play.  He couldn't wait.  He became fast friends with all the band members and came home with his first CD.

Saturday night we got to go to the football game and finally hang out with Jamie and Chris!  We had a great time at Bass concert hall and on the 50 yardline!  It was so great to walk on campus again!

Addy and Brynne played together all day on Saturday.  Along with Mr. Banana.

On Monday we had Mommo, Nana, Poppy, Chelsie and Jade here for burgers and homemade ice cream.  Bradyn devoured the ice cream, it was pretty funny!
